What we build

Beds and the pieces around them

Full bedroom suites or single heirloom pieces, for homes in Springfield and the 417.

  • Beds Four-poster beds with tapered posts and turned finials, and panel beds with a heavy footboard rail, sized to your mattress.
  • Bedroom suites A bed, nightstands and a dresser in one wood and one finish. The panel bed set below pairs a bed with its nightstands.
  • Headboards Arched or straight, with raised panels in figured wood like the bird’s-eye maple in our four-poster.
  • Nightstands One drawer over an open shelf, with dovetailed corners and a knob, a bar pull or no visible hardware.
  • Dressers and chests Drawer storage planned around what you keep in it and the wall it stands against.
  • Frames that come apart The four-poster’s rails meet its posts with bed bolts behind brass covers, so it comes apart for a move.

Details you can see up close

Proportion, joinery, finish and detail show in the headboard, the posts and the nightstands beside them.

  • Arched headboard with a raised bird's-eye maple panel set in a solid wood frame, seen at an angle

    A raised headboard panel

The arched headboard holds a raised, arch-topped panel of bird’s-eye maple in a solid wood frame, with a round cutout where the arch meets the post.

  • Close-up of a bed post with a round brass bolt cover and a stopped chamfer above the rail

    Posts and bed bolts

Stopped chamfers ease the corners of each post, and round brass covers hide the bed bolts that pull the rails tight to the posts.

  • Wood nightstand with one drawer, black bar pull, and open lower shelf beside a matching panel headboard

    A set that matches

The panel bed’s nightstands carry its finish: one drawer with a black bar pull, paneled sides and an open cubby below.

Cost

What affects the price

Bedroom pieces are quoted with the plan after the consultation. There’s no reliable national survey for custom beds alone, so these figures cover custom furniture in general.

How pricing works

The main cost drivers

  • Size. Mattress size, headboard height and post height set how much lumber goes in.
  • Species and figure. Figured boards like bird’s-eye maple cost more than plain stock; walnut sits in the top cost tier of our wood guide.
  • Drawers and joinery. Dovetailed drawers, bed bolts, turned finials and raised panels each add shop time.
  • Finish. Stain, paint, oil or a clear coat, and how many coats the piece needs.

How much does a custom bed frame cost?

There isn’t a reliable national survey for custom beds alone. For custom furniture in general, HomeAdvisor puts the typical range at $1,000 to $4,250, and a four-poster in figured wood sits higher than a simple panel bed. Yours is quoted with the plan after the consultation.

Can you build a bed to fit my mattress?

Yes. Tell us the mattress size and thickness when you start, and the rails, headboard and overall height get planned around it.

Are the drawers dovetailed?

The drawers on our nightstand pair are: pull one out and the dovetailed corners show. We’ll go through the drawer construction for your piece when we plan it.

Does a custom bed come apart for moving?

The four-poster in our portfolio joins its rails to the posts with bed bolts behind brass covers. That’s a joint made to be taken apart and put back together.
